making@stanford Sparks Student Making in Academic Year 2023-2024

In 2023-2024, making@stanford ignited student creativity and innovation, providing resources to turn ideas into impactful projects and enhancing hands-on learning on campus.

Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, making@stanford has significantly fostered hands-on student making, highlighted by the Autumn and Spring funding rounds. The Autumn 2023 funding round launched a host of pioneering projects, setting the stage for a year of creative exploration. The momentum continued with the Spring 2024 funding round, which supported a diverse range of initiatives.

Bioengineering

Cutting-edge 3D Bioprinting Course

Funding for a research assistant to develop a low cost light-driven 3d bioprinter to be used in workshops to teach students how to build and operate a stereolithography printer for the bioprinting class.

Design

Expanding the Printshop in Any Material

The d.school's new Printshop in Any Material hosts classes and workshops exploring the applications and implications of printed media. Funding from making@stanford expands the capabilities of this space.

Music - CCRMA

Staffing Support for MUSIC250A

This funding expands staff for running workshops in expanding their handmade instruments through covering aspects of industrial design, mass production, and marketing, as well as installation workshops to engage the sound art community.
